In this workshop participants will learn
what a User Experience (UX) Designer does, why it’s a critical role, and get a practical introduction to the field of UX design.

Participants will add LEDs to the item of clothing of their choice (which participants will supply), while learning the basics of adding circuits to clothing. Red Hat and SparkFun are supplying all the electronic materials (except the clothing). This intro to wearable electronics workshop will have 2 sessions, with 20 available seats per workshop. Apache Storm is a free and open source distributed real-time computation system. This talk introduces the basics of Apache Storm and explains the concepts using a word count example. It highlights the Trade Automation Rule Builder application developed by the Bloomberg Execution Management System team, and how we use Apache Storm to evaluate the rules using real-time market data and to trigger alerts.

Most importantly, we will be giving hackathon tips & tricks, and hosting a mini brainstorming session for ideation and getting set up. Overall, it will be a space for high school beginners to ease into their first hackathon experience and help them assimilate better into the atmosphere.
